i think the question should read:

Will Anet's Handling Of, quite possibly, the best completely free-to-play CORPG/MMORPG Dissuade You From GW2, which could quite possibly be the new best completely free-to-play CORPG/MMORPG on the market?

Well seeing as ANet is handling GW1 just fine IMO I will for sure get GW2.

I'm not thrilled by the framing of the OP's post, which implies "handling" problems but doesn't mention any specific complaint.

I expect the GW2 team will produce a well-implemented game with an entertaining story line and a variety of interesting pvp options. So I do plan to pick up GW2. Not sure about collector's edition though.

No. I will buy it, because it will get the support that GW1 has needed the last 2 years. But, if I see any name with the letters "I" "y" and two "z" in any order listed anywhere near skill balance, I will be suspicious.

Yeah, I think it would be difficult for anyone around here to truly argue that they did not get their money's worth from this product. The reality is that this is a game that is over 4 years old now and does not receive a steady influx of income from monthly subscriptions.

Anets current handling of GW2 is dissuading me from GW2.

I'll definitely be picking up a copy of GW2. While I, like many people who have posted, have not been complete happy with all of ANet's decisions (slowly increasing emphasis on grind has been annoying to say the least), there has never been another game which I've gotten so much play time out of. I play a variety of fps games, and If I enjoy the single-player campaign for a few days and the online content for a few months im thrilled. As for GW, its been going on 4+ years for me! Though I've taken many breaks from the game, I've still enjoyed thousands of hours of play. ~$180 for campaigns, slots etc / 2500 + hours = ~7 cents per hour of play.

Even if I only get a 1/4 of the game-play out of it as I have in GW1, it will still be a great value compared to what I've come to expect from other games. I complain like everyone else, but after this much time with GW1 we are bound to get sick of the same content or same styles of play. I can't imaging picking up any other game from 2005, and I think we need to appreciate all the enjoyment we've gotten than focus on the relatively minor (imo) negatives. For that reason I'll at least give GW2 a good chance.

I'm another who'll wait for a couple of months to see how the initial release is greeted by the reviewers and forum goers. I gave gw1 the same treatment, having initially been put off by the stress of 'Guild' in the title, coming from a single-player game back-ground and boy am I glad I picked this up but their next product needs to be at least as well polished as Prophecies was for its time back then.

Anet's change to support solo play is a bit of a turn off and wasn't what I wanted when I got the first Guild Wars. So why should I play by myself in Guild Wars 2?

I know they want Guild Wars to appeal to casual gamers, but it's awful when it dumbs the whole game down to either easy mode or restrictive speed clears.

Yes, the way this game has gone, it seems that they make the game easier and easier, but reward players more and more. id much rather play diablo 3 over gw2.

this game would of been better off single player on a console with 4-8player multiplayer.

It's GW2.

(As far as I can see) It seems that everything that made GW1 good isn't part of GW2.
I totally agree with this comment.

I'm like, the most casual player ever (I've been playing for three or four years and I still haven't even been in the Underworld yet... x___x;, so I've been pretty happy with the game (when you consider "blunders" like the MBP, miniature polar bear, SF/Ursan, or whatever "Anet's handling" falls under). My problem with the game isn't the outside "business" practices themselves (although I really hate how they just suddenly up and ditched this game, turning it into Zombieland), but with the game itself, especially with how it just began leaning towards Grind Wars. GW2, as someone else said, looks like they took everything cool that was the original GW1 and stripped it all out, and made it more like a generic, traditional fantasy MMORPG.

As a major MMO-hopper always looking for something new to take up my time, I didn't fall in love with GW1 because it was like that, but because it wasn't. I loved the emphasis on story, character and skill development, cooperative playstyles, world exploration and freedom, etc. So I will be wary on buying GW2. I'll wait for reviews and articles and whatnot to come out before I dole out the cash. I don't want to pay $50+ for a game only to find out that it's yet another "Kill 12 boars" ad nauseum sort of thing, and then be unable to sell it because I used the dang key!

I might not buy Gw2, but for different reasons, Modern Warfare 2 , Assassin's Creed 2, L4D2, and borderlands have already ensured me getting anything done in the next year.

I will play gw2, and I'll be glad the people who aren't playing, aren't playing. LOL seriously, not kidding. If you are actually not going to buy GW2 because you some how are able to predict that GW 2 will suck and anet won't do a good job, your loss, my gain.

If you aren't playing/buying because of another game, thats cool though, I'm still prob gonna get D3 and MW2 when they come out eventually.

Comes out tomorrowz. But ya, people who can "predict" a game being bad are just plain dumb.

It's still too early to tell for me. I do not like how GW has been handled since they moved to working on GW2, but once GW2 is -done- then that's an entirely different story, because I definitely like how GW was handled before they were working on GW2.

But my buying GW2 is pretty much reliant on the gameplay. I'm not foolish enough to go buy a game blindly just because they developed another game I like. Personally, I'll make my decision when I get more info about the gameplay, and the systems involved.

I'll buy GW2 when it comes out. While I'm sure to have fun playing it through. I am also eagerly awaiting to see how farming and running come about too.

I've had my issues here and there with ANET, but on the whole, they have provided A LOT of people with entertainment for quite a few years. And subscription free to boot.

I will be the minority in this post.

No. I don't think GW1 has been handled well since the GW2 announcement. Hell, I don't think GW1 has been handled well since Nightfall.

I am absolutely not buying GW2 unless I get serious positive reviews from friends, and particularly from PvP players. Not to mention by the time GW2 comes out we will have SC2 which means I won't have much time for GW2 making it even less likely I will buy it.

Don't like guns in fantasy games, regardless of how they fit into the story, so that alone sealed the deal for me.

Also, if it's true that they took all of the constantly suggested changes for this game (auction house, for example) and saved them for the sequel, then screw them.
